Nissan Canada Pairing With Tesla

More Charging Options Coming For Nissan Drivers In Toronto

Nissan has agreed to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in partnership with Tesla, starting in 2025. This decision will provide Canadian Nissan customers with more options for charging their electric vehicles. Nissan is the first Japanese automaker to announce its support for NACS in future products.

Starting in 2024, Nissan will offer a NACS charging adapter for Ariya models that currently use the Combined Charging System 1 (CCS1) for DC fast charging. This adapter will allow customers to connect their vehicles to NACS plugs at compatible charging stations.

In 2025, Nissan will begin offering electric vehicles (EVs) with a NACS port for the U.S. and Canadian markets. This will make charging on the Tesla Supercharger network easier and more convenient for Nissan EV drivers, significantly increasing the number of fast-charging locations available.

Jérémie Papin, chairperson of Nissan Americas, stated that adopting the NACS standard demonstrates Nissan’s commitment to making electric mobility more accessible. This aligns with Nissan’s long-term vision of greater electrification, known as Ambition 2030. The goal is for over 40% of Nissan’s U.S. vehicle sales to be fully electric by 2030, with additional vehicles being electrified.

More information about Nissan’s NACS compatibility rollout will be provided at a later date. If you’re interested in test-driving an electric Nissan vehicle please contact the store closest to you.
