2025 Nissan Kicks Is An IIHS Top Safety Pick The brand-new 2025 Nissan Kicks has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK designation, highlighting its robust safety features under the latest, more rigorous evaluation standards. The criteria for the 2024 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award have become more stringent, demanding that vehicles exhibit improved performance in revised side-impact tests, which now deliver 82% more energy than earlier assessments. Additionally, vehicles are required to adhere to tougher standards for rear-seat protection, pedestrian crash prevention, and headlight performance across all trims. A “Good” rating in the small overlap front and updated side-impact crash tests. A “Good” rating in the original moderate front crash test. An “Acceptable” or “Good” rating in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation. “Acceptable” or “Good” headlight performance across all trims. “The 2025 Nissan Kicks delivers advanced safety and reliability,” said Paul Peruski, Vice President of Vehicle Evaluation, Safety and Test Engineering, Nissan Technical Center North America. “This latest recognition from IIHS highlights our dedication to engineering vehicles that protect drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike.” The 2025 Nissan Kicks shone in these assessments, safeguarding both passengers and pedestrians across a range of real-world situations. Outfitted with Nissan Safety Shield® 360 as a standard feature on all trims, the Kicks boasts intuitive safety technologies such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and High Beam Assist, providing drivers with confidence and peace of mind. Tailored for city drivers, the Nissan Kicks merges agility and efficiency with advanced safety technologies, establishing itself as an exceptional option in the compact SUV category. The Kicks is also celebrated for its chic design that complements a contemporary, fast-paced lifestyle.
Do Electric Vehicles Operate Effectively in Canadian Winters?
How Does Nissan Test Ariya Batteries? Ontario winters are notoriously cold, yet the temperatures inside a unique chamber at the Nissan Technical Centre North America are even more frigid. Within these temperature- and humidity-controlled chambers, Nissan has exposed the all-electric ARIYA to conditions far more extreme than what the average driver will ever encounter. "Our chambers are capable of temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius," said Jeff Tessmer, senior manager of Zero Emission Vehicles at NTCNA. To assess whether the ARIYA can maintain its charge level in severe cold conditions, Tessmer and his team frequently conduct a “cold soak” test. In a 24-hour cold soak conducted in early 2024, an ARIYA was left with a 17% battery charge in -20 degrees Celsius weather, without being plugged in or using its battery heater. When the team came back after a long day, the ARIYA still maintained its 17% charge and started up right away. "We want to test the worst-case scenario so that our customers will still get the same performance in a wide variety of weather conditions," Tessmer said. It’s one of the many temperature tests the team conducts when validating a vehicle before production begins. Some components are tested at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius. The ARIYA is equipped with various systems aimed at boosting its performance in both extreme heat and cold. On scorching days, a liquid-cooled thermal management system keeps the battery at an ideal temperature. Conversely, on chilly days, a battery heater ensures the same. You can choose to activate the battery heater before setting off, guaranteeing it reaches an optimal temperature for departure. The Ariya & MyNISSAN App "When it comes to combatting cold temperatures, the ARIYA is very well equipped," said Ansu Jammeh, an engineer on Nissan's Zero Emissions Engineering team. "The MyNISSAN app lets you prepare the car well in advance. You can even set a timer so that every day, it will warm up at the same time." Through the MyNISSAN app, you can preheat the cabin, monitor the interior temperatures, and set up a charging schedule. Jammeh suggests that it's best to use these features while the vehicle is plugged in, as this allows it to draw power from the grid rather than depleting the vehicle’s battery. "That way, your car is warm and cozy without having to draw on the vehicle's battery before you start your trip," he explained. When you’re away from home, the app allows you to effortlessly find a charger on the Nissan Energy Charge Network. Owning an ARIYA in cold weather climates offers several advantages, including the available e-4ORCE All-Wheel Drive. Moreover, its cabin warms up much quicker than that of an internal combustion vehicle, as it doesn’t rely on an engine for heat. "EVs get warmer faster. It's just the nature of the product," Jammeh said. Nissan has been a trailblazer in the electric vehicle arena since the LEAF made its debut in 2009, and it has perfected the craft of testing EVs for both durability and performance. The testing process spans several years, and it’s time wisely invested. >"Customers can get in their vehicles and expect the same performance every time," Jammeh said. "Your car is ready for you every day without any drama, wherever you live."

This really shows how serious INFINITI is about keeping us safe and packing their rides with the latest tech. The INFINITI QX60 has done it again, snagging the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award for the third year in a row! It's a champ when it comes to crashworthiness, keeping pedestrians safe, and rocking those headlights. This ride is packed with a killer lineup of standard safety features like Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. With its top-notch protection, sleek design, and roomy three-row seating, the QX60 is perfect for families and anyone looking for a touch of luxury. Hey, did you know that when it comes to buying a car, safety is a big deal, especially for families and folks looking at luxury SUVs? J.D. Power says that fancy safety features are one of the main things people look for when picking out a new ride. And according to McKinsey & Company, those shopping for luxury cars expect the latest driver-assistance tech to come standard. Plus, getting a nod from the IIHS with awards like the TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ really helps buyers feel good about their choices. “INFINITI’s best-selling QX60 and flagship QX80 are core to our lineup and represent the perfect blend of safety technologies, luxury and performance,” said Craig Keeys, the group vice president of INFINITI Americas. “QX60 and QX80 reflect our ongoing commitment to client safety and satisfaction and play an integral role in our product renaissance.” To snag the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ badge from IIHS, cars have to ace a few tests. They need a "Good" rating in the small overlap front and the updated side-impact crash tests, and at least an "Acceptable" in the revamped moderate overlap front test. Plus, all trims should have headlights that are rated "Good" or "Acceptable." And don't forget about the vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention systems—they need to score "Acceptable" or "Good" too.

It boasts the highest standard horsepower among its competitors (excluding hybrids and EVs). The engine incorporates several technologies to enhance efficiency, such as Idle Stop-Start and mirror bore coatings in the cylinders to reduce friction. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, providing two additional forward speeds compared to the previous Armada for better acceleration and cruising efficiency. It features a 40% wider gear ratio range than the former 7-speed transmission, allowing for quicker upshifts. The 2025 Armada boasts a standard towing capacity of 8,500 pounds, equipped with a Class IV tow hitch and a 7-pin harness/pre-wiring across all models. The PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve models enhance this with an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller. A new feature for Nissan, the standard Trailer Blind Spot Monitoring10, alerts drivers to vehicles in blind spots even while towing. Drivers can simply enter the length of their trailer (up to 33 feet) to set up the system. The PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve models also include Load Leveling Air Suspension, which enhances ride comfort and handling. This system offers various ride heights based on the situation; it can lower at higher speeds to boost aerodynamics, and when parked, it can drop by 2.0 inches to facilitate easier access for passengers or cargo loading. It offers an impressive visual impact with robust proportions, while maintaining carefully controlled surfacing on its bodysides. The 2025 Armada is available in a stunning color palette, featuring Alpine Metallic, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Coulis Red Pearl, Aspen White Tricoat, Everest White Pearl Tricoat, and Deep Ocean Blue Pearl. Front-row legroom has increased by 4.2 inches compared to the previous model, while the third row sees an impressive 5.7-inch boost in legroom. The 2025 Armada also provides more cargo space across all seating configurations, allowing drivers to carry more essentials for work, leisure, or the daily commute. Cargo space behind the third row expands by 24%, or nearly 4 cubic feet, reaching a total of 20.4 cubic feet. Across all 2025 Armada models, wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™ come standard. To deliver a rich and immersive sound experience that complements its bold and imposing capabilities, the Armada comes with a standard Klipsch® Premium Audio system. It includes 12 speakers, featuring a DualPower® subwoofer, and delivers 600 watts of power. The 2025 Armada employs advanced camera technology to help drivers confidently navigate parking lots, urban areas, and even off-road environments. This includes a 3D version of Nissan's Around View® Monitor, an Invisible Hood View, and a Front Wide View for seeing beyond parked cars, buildings, or other obstacles. Driver Assitance Features For Everyone The all-new Armada introduces three distinct levels of driver assistance technologies designed to enhance the convenience of road trips or even the daily commute. ProPILOT Assist 1.112 comes standard across all models, merging Intelligent Cruise Control with steering assistance to help drivers maintain their lane and a set speed and distance from the vehicle ahead. To further enhance the driver assistance experience, ProPILOT Assist 1.1 utilizes navigation data to proactively adjust vehicle speed for curves, interchanges, and other driving scenarios. Exclusive to the Platinum Reserve Captain's Chairs is ProPILOT Assist 2.1, Nissan's most advanced driver assistance technology. It enables attentive drivers to remove their hands from the steering wheel during single-lane highway driving, while the system manages acceleration, steering, and braking. A map of roads compatible with ProPILOT Assist 2.1 is available here. The 2025 Armada also features a comprehensive suite of safety technologies across all models with the standard Nissan Safety Shield® 36013. This includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, High Beam Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, along with Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, and Intelligent Lane Intervention.
